THE ROLE

Join us on our latest venture brought to you by the team from the Port of Leith Distillery, a brand new whisky bar located in the heart of Edinburgh’s old town.

We are seeking a Bar Supervisor with an enthusiasm for whisky to become an integral part of the opening team at our latest project opening this Summer.

Working closely with our team, you will contribute to the creation of a captivating atmosphere, where every interaction becomes a memorable experience. With an unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service, you will engage with patrons, share your whisky knowledge, and ensure their visit is nothing short of extraordinary. Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and inspire a small team of talented bar staff fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the team's knowledge of whiskies and customer service standards.

  • Delegate responsibilities to the wider team effectively and ensure smooth daily operations.

Beverage Program Development:

  • Assist with evolving the bar's beverage menu, ensuring whisky is at the core.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new releases, and distillery information to continually enhance the bar's offerings.

Customer Engagement and Experience:

  • Set a standard for exceptional customer service, personally engaging with guests to ensure a memorable experience.

  • Contribute to whisky recommendations, tastings, and educational sessions, deepening guests' understanding and appreciation.

Operational Excellence:

  • Ensure the venue is meticulously maintained, organised, and stocked.

  • Implement and enforce proper cash handling procedures.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Foster effective communication among team members to guarantee seamless operations and exceptional guest service.

  • Collaborate with management to develop promotions, events, and strategies to drive revenue and enhance the overall guest experience.

Training and Development:

  • Provide ongoing training and mentorship to bartenders, refining their skills and whisky knowledge.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and recognize achievements within the team.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe and clean bar environment.

  • Implement and uphold rigorous standards of hygiene and cleanliness.

Flexibility and Adaptability:

  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by business needs.

What you will have:

  • Creativity and passion.

  • A keen eye for detail with excellent organisational skills.

  • Previous experience working in whisky bars.

  • Exceptional knowledge of whisky industry trends.

  • Experience of managing rotas, inventory and a small team of people.

  • Great experience in delivering 5* Customer Service - anticipating our customer’s needs is a must.

  • Natural leadership skills with the ability to adapt to an ever changing environment of people’s needs.

  • Verbal and written communication proficiency with the ability to tailor their approach to all customer profiles.

  • Proficient with the use of IT systems (EPOS, Payroll, General Office and Communication, Booking Systems, Inventory Management, Training).
